The Confidence Building Course is something we recommend for all dog owners, regardless of age. The main goal for our confidence building course are as followed:

– Preventing negative associations developing.
– Exposing dogs to new and sometimes spooky stimulus in a positive manner.
– Early identification of dogs with sensitivities.
– Building confidence through fun and activities.
Each week will focus on the core topics:

– People
– Substrates
– Tricks
– Separation
– Objects
– Handling
– Noises

Say hello to one of our amazing trainers ✨LAURYN✨ aka loz

Loz has been at Sit Happens for what feels like forever! She specialises in our basic programs, puppy classes and also runs our open classes on a Saturday!

Loz talks about loz:
“I have always had a great passion for animals and found myself always exploring and learning about their behaviour while I was working in retail. Having seen a job listed for a daycare attendant at Sit Happens, applying and being accepted for an interview, I knew during my interview this was the job for me! A few speedy years down the track, I am now a Sit Happens trainer. I love my job and love continuing to learn and expand my knowledge.

Being bubbly and outgoing, suits my job role as I love meeting great people and doggos! My job rewards me everyday as I get to watch people learn and use the tools to develop a great relationship with their furry companions, I can’t tell you how much it warms my heart to see both dog and owner look at eachother with such joy and trust” …

Our handsome man JETT 🥹✨

Jett is an 18 month old Dalmatian that started in our behavioural therapy program and is now taking part in our 10 week calming canines course. Jett and his mum Belinda started their session here with our trainer Sarah!

As Jett enters his adolescence, the aim for his training is to make sure we are helping him learn impulse control, reducing his frustration levels and most importantly creating that cool, calm, collected doggo!

Through the exposure of our calming canines course, which is a 1 on 1 class focusing on stability, predictability and safety with the exposure of another dog.

We hope to see Jett have a successful level of exposure to external environments and composure when it comes to his training

Introducing Mr Ted ✨

Vicki is one of our long term clients that has been with us from the very start of our Mornington Training days back in 2010 with her other golden boy Indi!

This post is dedicated to Ted who is Vickis second golden at Sit Happens. Ted has had many up and downs with his health and his training, here are some words from his fur mum:

Ted turned 1 this week! It has been an unexpected year for us with Ted as he was diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia before he was 7 months old, surgery when he was 8 months. He had many setbacks with socialisation and confidence due to vet visits, examinations and needing to be confined. 4 months of rest, rehab and recovery he is doing amazingly well with hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and swim sessions. We are now working on building his confidence and training in general. We are fortunate to have had the assistance of so many professionals at our doorstep.

As well as the tradition red poppy, there is also white that symbolises peace and purple which remembers animals that have died during conflicts.

Australian War Animal Memorials has issued a purple poppy which can be worn along side the traditional red one as a reminder that both humans and animals have served and continued to serve.

Please wear a purple poppy and help raise awareness of these forgotten heroes

Let’s meet a couple of little legends!

First picture we have Mr Shadow, he is a 2 year old German Spitz cross Silky Terrier

In the second picture we have Miss Pippa, Pippa is a 4 year old Australian Cattle dog

These two awesome puppers are apart of what’s called out Calming Canines Course, this is a 10 week course designed for worried dogs to build confidence and practise relaxing around new dogs, noises, movement and people.

The owners Peter, Tessa and Jamie all completed behavioural therapy with our trainer Ruby before entering into this course

Follow along for the next 10 sessions to see how these guys progress moving forward, and see how a stable and predictable environment creates and calm and relaxed dog
